A warm welcome to the Otto-Görgen Winery
For more than 300 years, winemaking has been more than a profession for our family – it is our passion. Since 1707, we have cultivated the steep slopes of the Moselle Valley with experience, great dedication, and in harmony with nature. Our aim is to produce wines that are as unique as the landscape in which we live.
Healthy soils, rich biodiversity, and consistent handcrafted work form the foundation. This is how wines with origin and character are created – distinctive, elegant, and with impressive longevity.

We currently cultivate 16 ha. 40% on steep slopes. Most of the vineyard area is planted with white grape varieties. Riesling in particular. It is also our passion. No other grape produces such nuanced wines. The steep slopes of the Moselle in particular, and the stony slate and greywacke soils, are the foundation for outstanding Riesling wines.
Alongside traditional grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Schwarzriesling, Dornfelder, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, we will also be focusing in future on fungus-resistant varieties such as Muscaris, Calardis Blanc, Sauvignac, and Cabernet Cortis. These PIWI varieties require less plant protection and contribute to sustainable viticulture.

Support for steep-slope vineyards …
For its services in agri-environment and climate measures & environmentally friendly steep and very steep-slope viticulture, the business receives compensation from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). Here, Europe invests in rural areas as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate development programme for environmental measures, rural development, agriculture and food (EULLE), co-financed by the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
… and nature conservation
Vineyards are habitats. As a winery on the Moselle, we shape not only the landscape but also living space. That is why we are a partner business of Naturschutz Rheinland-Pfalz. This title is not just a nice label, but a binding concept. Nature conservation potential is identified and a guiding framework with specific measures is developed – practical and sensibly integrated into the business. This concept is reviewed by experts – and only then is recognition granted.
